Cameras are devices that capture light and turn it into an image. Whether it’s a phone camera or a professional camera, they all rely on the same basic principles.
Focuses light onto the camera’s sensor. Different lenses provide different fields of view, such as wide-angle, standard, or telephoto. Image sensor: A digital sensor (usually CMOS) converts incoming light into electrical signals that become a digital image.


Aperture: The opening inside the lens. A larger aperture (such as f/1.8) lets in more light and can create a blurrier background, while a smaller aperture (such as f/11) lets in less light and keeps more of the scene in focus.
